Questions about using my3Dplayer

Do I need CAD software to use my3Dplayer?

No CAD software is needed to use my3Dplayer. You only need to download your 3D model. This is a SaaS product, that is, there is no software installation required.

Which browsers can I use?

You can use the following web browsers: Chrome / Firefox / Edge in 64-bit version

Which browser version should I use?

64 bits, the most recent version possible is recommended.

I can not upload my 3D model, what can I do?

Check your browser version (64-bit) or refer to the question below.

What are the file limits?

The file limit depends on several parameters:

  • the type of web browser used. Web browsers impose RAM limits. We recommend using Google Chrome 64 bit.

  • the number of pieces. Beyond 5000 pieces, the management of the assembly in my3Dplayer is not always guaranteed.

  • the number of shake triangles used to display a component (image quality). Beyond 1,500,000 triangles, assembly management in my3Dplayer is not always guaranteed.

There are solutions to lighten your 3D model.

What types of files are accepted?

Currently, SOLIDWORKS, STEP, CATIA, CGR, Inventor, Creo, NX, 3DS, STL, OBJ, COLLADA files are accepted.

The textures on my Solidworks files are badly applied, what should I do?

Currently, only SolidWorks formats allow materials to be recovered. Only the materials natively included in the SolidWorks components are compatible. If you applied materials in the assembly or in part configurations in the assembly, it will not work.

What types of 3D animations can I do?

You can do the following animations: * Translation * Rotation * Transparency * Flashing * 3D annotation * Bursts * Cutting view

You can also play on parameters of duration, delay.

My 3D model has evolved, how to update the player?

On an existing player, click on the button titled “More Actions” and then on the submenu “Change CAD file”.

You have the possibility to change 3D model.

For example, if your 3D model has been modified or evolved at design level in the CAD software, then you will be able to download this new 3D model in my3Dplayer.

In case you have already created animations, however, be careful about the changes that this might involve: check the consistency of your animations.

I want to do a montage sequence, how?

Create your player by performing disassembly animations.

When you are on the management page of a player, click on the “more actions” menu on the sequence you want reversed and choose “reverse sequence”. A window appears asking you: “Do you want to reverse the steps of this sequence to generate a new one?” Then click on validate. In your player, a new sequence will be generated with the inverted steps, which will correspond to a montage sequence.

How to publish a player?

On each player you will find a share button, click on it. From the window that appears, you can either:

  • publish your player by communicating a URL to your interlocutors (for web browsers)
  • communicate code for mobile applications (IOS / Android / Windows).

Thus, those who view the player can do it in offline mode on a computer, a tablet or a smartphone.

You must first download and install the application ‘my3Dplayer’ on your device.

Players can also be viewed in virtual reality (Windows).

The data of my3Dplayer is hosted in a datacentre of our own (NC2 company acquired in 2017). The datacentres of NC2 are in France and they are ISO 27001 certified.

Are my C.A.O. files. are hosted on your servers?

Your CAD file is converted on our server in a proprietary format, only readable by our my3Dplayer application. This proprietary file contains only geometry and piece metadata information that can not be used by CAD software. Once your CAD file is converted, it is removed from our servers. It is therefore not possible to steal your intellectual property.

What virtual reality hardware should I use?
